THROUGH HER MAJESTY'S LENSES: THROWBACK TO THE 2006 FLOODS

The Johor Royal Family have always been on hand to help the rakyat in times of natural disasters.

HM The Permaisuri of Johor, Raja Zarith Sofiah Binti Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah, has agreed to share her exclusive photographs from the 2006 flood disaster in Johor - one of the worst ever recorded in the state's history.

The photos were taken by Her Majesty during a tour of the state during the flood, together with HM The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar who was the Tunku Mahkota of Johor at the time.

“That was a very difficult time as the floods were so severe, it was very emotional for us to see the people’s suffering.

“But their spirit was so strong, that in spite of their plight, they greeted us so warmly as we made our rounds, giving them our moral support and sending aid,” said Her Majesty to the Royal Press Office (RPO).

Her Majesty also said that the disasters always brought out the best in all Bangsa Johor, as everyone came together to help those in need regardless of colour and creed.
